Keeping Fit During The Holidays

Holidays, ahhhhh how ballerinas look forward to them! A well deserved rest from a hard term's work of dance. It also gives your feet a chance to rest from those stiff pointe shoes.

But don't you worry that you'll get all 'out of shape,' for those few weeks you aren't dancing? Well, here's a plan.

Yes, you obviously deserve that rest. Your body need it, too. It gives you something to look forward to, and a chance for your body to recover. However, you don't want to get all unfit.

For the first week of these holidays, I let myself just sit back and relax. Then it was time to get into action. I strapped my pointe shoes on every day this week, and practiced for about twenty minutes to half an hour.

Now, that's not long or anything, but it keeps your feet in shape, so you don't go downhill during your few weeks off.

Also, I've done a bit of stretching. No more than five or so minutes a day, but it keeps those tendons working, so I can still do whatever I need to when I get back to class next week.

Thanks for reading/commenting, everyone!

P.S:

On the right hand side of my blog, just below this post, I recently created a poll. It is the first of a series of poll. I am wanting to know what you think of my blog (that's what this poll's about), what you want more of on my blog, and so on. Please vote!

So far, only five people have voted. Come on! Please, if you havne't, I encourage you to. This blog is for your benifit, so I want to know what you want more of.

You don't have to have a Google Account to vote, either. It's as easy as just clicking a button.

Thanks again.

Hi Cassie,

Yeah, that's pretty cool that you're the first to comment. Congratulations. ha ha. lol. jks.

I AM actually trying to post more frequently, giving information to other ballerinas. Although sometimes I DO get a bit slack :S

Hi Bri,

Thanks for the invite. No, I didn't see that comment on your blog, but now I have. lol. ha. ha.

Sure, I could do a guest post this weekend, perhaps. Although I am busy until then.

Thanks for considering me.

are you online, Izi?

Hi Bri.

ha ha. Well, when I see your comment, I'm online, obviously. But I don't think that you are, since you posted that comment at 12:29, and it's not 3:55. Ooh well, try again another time, I guess.

Thanks for trying, though.

Yeah, I can never seem to actually "take a break", I still feel the need to stretch and all that jazz!
By the way, you're up on my blog :)

Hi Chloey*

It's so hard to just chill and take a break, hey. I'm glad that you understand, too. But what I find hard also, is once your break is finished, adn it's time to start up again. That can also be difficult.

Thanks so much for adding me on your blog. U R Awesome, Chloey*

Hi Izi

I also like to take a break sometimes!

I would like to ask you, how did you put that voting poll on the side of your blog? I would like to have something like that on the side of my blog too, for my baking challenge, but can’t find it!

Have a blessed day
Heidi

Hi Heidi,

Sure, I would love to answer your question. Ok, so what you do is go to the side of your blog and click on 'add a gadget,' then you scroll through all the gadgets you can add, and pic the one that says 'poll.' However, it might not be in the first line of gadgets. On the side of the little window that pops up when you click on 'add a gadget,' there are these buttons that say 'advanced,' 'normal,' or something like that. Just scroll throught them all and you should find the poll button. Although I'm pretty sure that it is just one of the first ones that comes up.

Once you have found it, you can start on your poll. It asks you to select multiple answers, and for you to enter your question. Then you select the date that you want your poll to finish on. Simply click save after that, and your DONE!

Good Luck. If you have any more questions about it, don't hesitate to ask me.

Off to school .....
